Middlebury Institute alumnus Alan Lovewell and his company Real Good Fish beat out 30,000 other applicants to win a $100,000 grant from Chase Bank to support a unique initiative aimed at transforming local seafood into healthy, popular lunches for public school students.
Imagine “how desperate you would have to be to decide that boarding an overcrowded flimsy boat is the best decision you can make for your family,” says Middlebury Institute alumna Kathryn Sokol of the “unbelievable” situation on the Greek Island of Lesvos, where she is coordinating emergency response for the International Rescue Committee as the island receives thousands of refugees, many fleeing the conflict in Syria.
