Conditional Admission
We offer conditional admission to qualified international students who need to improve their English language skills before joining a graduate degree program.
By earning conditional admission, you will have the opportunity to take English language courses in Monterey before beginning your graduate program. Our English Language School is designed to prepare you for the coursework and professional experiences you will have as a graduate student.
If you meet all of our admissions requirements except for the minimum English language proficiency requirement, you may be eligible for conditional admission.
To qualify, you must:
- Meet all other admissions requirements for your degree program
- Submit your TOEFL or IELTS scores
Eligible Graduate Programs
The programs that currently offer conditional admission are:
- International Environmental Policy
- International Policy and Development; MPA
- Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies
- Joint BA/MA
How to Apply
Follow the instructions to complete your application for admission. If you qualify, the Office of Admissions will notify you that you have been conditionally admitted.
Once you’re conditionally admitted, you will be given up to one year (12 months) to successfully complete the advanced level of the English Language School or submit an updated TOEFL or IELTS score that meets the minimum requirement for your degree program. You do not need to reapply for your graduate program.
