"My favorite part of the IEP program is the professional curriculum that not only gives students a strong academic background in environmental policy but also teaches us to be able practitioners."

Adam Fullerton has always been passionate about international policy and environmental sustainability. At the Monterey Institute, Adam is able to pursue both of those passions.

"MIIS is the only program that offered an environmental studies degree with an international focus," he said. "I am able to build on my international policy experience while focusing on environmental concerns."

Last summer, Adam was part of the launch of the of the Center for the Blue Economy. As part of the CBE's Summer Fellows program, he worked on sea turtle conservation with Conservation International in Washington, D.C., and also visited Ecuador to learn about lobster conservation. Those experiences gave him valuable connections with some of the most active conservation organizations in the world.

"My CBE fellowship gave me a great introduction to the varied work being done by large NGOs," Adam said. "It also helped me define the direction I would like to go in my future career."
