The 2012 Monterey Institute Career Fair was a historic event. A record 109 employers participated, including Apple, Facebook, HSBC and a number of high-profile government agencies and non-profit organizations.
The recruiters at the Career Fair said the reason they want Monterey Institute graduates is because they have the skills and knowledge they are looking for.
"They have a savvy and a programatic knowledge that transfers across all kinds of industries," said Sierra Club Recruiter, Joshua Ramey-Renk. "They're use to dealing with cross-cultural issues. They're use to dealing with a level of organizational structure and just ideas and thinking outside the box, which is exactly what we look for when we hire somebody.
"The Monterey student is more complete," said Jean du Preez of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Organization (CTBTO). "It's a student that comes equipped with expert knowledge, equipped with language skills, equipped with practical experience. And that in itself makes for a unique combination that I dare say is only to be found here."
