Students should make their travel arrangements to arrive on campus at Salve Regina University on Sunday, June 30. Our arrivals center will be open for check-in from 11 am - 6 pm. Students will not be able to check in prior to this time. If you will be arriving after 6 pm, we will make late check-in arrangements with you.
It's important for all students to be on campus on June 30 as program orientation will begin at 9 am on Monday, July 1.
We recommend that program participants fly to either Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) or Providence Green Airport (PVD)
Students who are flying internationally may prefer to fly to Boston, which is about 120 kilometers from the Salve Regina University campus. Frequent bus service is available from the airport to Newport with Peter Pan Bus Lines, and the cost for a one-way ticket is $31.00. For schedules and reservations, visit http://www.peterpanbus.com/.
Students who want to attend the six-week Summer Intensive College English program must demonstrate their English language proficiency by submitting results from a recognized English language proficiency test. If you have a score from a test other than the TOEFL or IELTS, please contact us to determine if you meet the proficiency requirements. If you have no test scores, please consider joining our four-week program. This four-week program does not require a TOEFL score for admission.
Our Summer Intensive College English program is located on the campus of our partner school, Salve Regina University. The campus is beautifully situated in the coastal town of Newport, Rhode Island. Students will enjoy access to all campus facilities, including recreational areas, the famous "Cliff Walk" along the Atlantic Ocean, as well as nearby beaches. Newport is an ideal location for summer fun and learning. For more information about Newport, follow this link.
The Summer Intensive College English has been designed to address the specific needs of students who plan to attend a high school or an undergraduate program in the United States. In order for students to get the most out of the program, they need to have a minimum English language proficiency that will enable them to do the work expected of high school and college students. Students who cannot meet the language proficiency requirement will not be able to follow the English for Academic Purposes curriculum necessary to successfully complete the program.
We will be offering scholarships this year. Please note that the scholarship application is due on March 1, 2013. You may refer to the scholarship page for further information about the application procedure.
Yes, the minimum age to participate in the Summer Intensive College English Program is 15.
