We Mourn the Loss

Nancy Olsen, alumna of the Institute and highly regarded member of the Center for the Blue Economy (CBE) team, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in Montrey on Thursday, January 15th after a long battle with cancer.

Nancy graduated from MIIS in May of 2013 with a MA degree in International Environmental Policy (IEP).  Later that year she joined the Institute’s Center for the Blue Economy as Managing Editor of its new journal, the Journal of Ocean and Coastal Economics (JOCE).  She will be missed by all of us at the Center for the Blue Economy and at MIIS.

Monica Galligan is an adjunct faculty member at the Center for the Blue Economy at the Institute for International Studies (a graduate school of Middlebury College). Pat Johnston is the Data Manager of the National Ocean Economics Program (NOEP) at the Institute for International Studies (a graduate school of Middlebury College). He joined NOEP in 2003 as Information Systems Manager, responsible for all database and website development and operations. Since then, Pat has added significantly to the size and scope of the NOEP offerings, including new databases, website querying functionality, and data download capabilities.
