What kind of city is Monterey?

Monterey is a small town on the Central Coast of California, about 120 miles (190 kms) south of San Francisco.
•  There are about 75,000 people on the Monterey Peninsula.

•  As one of the oldest cities in California, Monterey has a rich and interesting history. Surrounding the city, you can also find a number of unique outdoor sites such as Big Sur and the Monterey Bay. The region is well-known for bike riding, hiking, or just walking around enjoying the historic buildings.

Where will I live during my stay in Monterey?

You will stay in the Casa Munras hotel which is located in downtown Monterey, a short walk from the Institute! Each room has two double beds and there will be two people per room (everyone will have their own bed). Each room is equipped with wireless internet and a host of other amenities. There is also an outdoor pool and spa.

How do I arrange transportation from the airport?

Inform the Fulbright Program staff, of your arrival date and time by emailing them at montereyfulbrightinfo@gmail.com. In your Terms of Appointment, it is indicated that you are required to inform the Coordinator of your flight plans, including departure date and time, arrival date and time, airline and flight number(s), at least 10 days prior to your arrival in the United States.

At which airport should I arrive?

All grantees should plan to fly into Monterey Peninsula Airport (airport code MRY). It is a short drive to Monterey, and enables you to be easily transported to your hotel.
