Can currently enrolled Monterey Institute students apply to the Kathryn Davis Fellowship?

Yes. Current Monterey Institute students may apply directly to Middlebury Language Schools for the summer language programs.

Can international students apply for the Kathryn Davis Fellowship?

Yes, we encourage international students to apply to our master's degree programs as well as the Kathryn Davis Fellowship for Peace.

Why do I have to pay a tuition deposit to Middlebury if my expenses will be paid?

Middlebury’s language programs are competitive and selective. They need to be sure you plan to enroll or they will give the slot to another deserving candidate. Fellowship recipients will be reimbursed their deposit upon registration for their summer classes at Middlebury.

When do I have to pay my deposits to Middlebury and the Monterey Institute?

A tuition deposit will be due to Middlebury within 2 weeks of accepting the Fellowship. The Monterey Institute requires a $500 tuition deposit to hold a place in a master’s program and will be due after applicants are notified of their scholarship status.

When will I know if I have been accepted to both programs?

Applicants should be notified of admission to Monterey Institute degree programs approximately 4-6 weeks after the deadline. Middlebury Language Schools award decisions will be announced on March 8, 2013.

What if I am admitted to MIIS but am not selected as a Fellowship recipient?

You may still enroll at the Monterey Institute as long as you meet the language component of the admission requirements prior to starting your first semester of language study at the Monterey Institute. Our Admissions staff can help you with solutions, including attending the Monterey Institute’s Summer Intensive Language Program.
