The PTD program has undergone a curriculum innovation which produced the launch of the Summer Peacebuilding Program (SPP), a three-week long intensive training program designed to bridge the theory and practice of building peace in societies that are emerging from conflict, violence or war.

The Summer Peacebuilding Program (SPP) builds on the 'Peace' dimension that was explored for two years (2013 and 2014) in the Peace Trade and Development program.

Types of Financial Aid


You may apply for U.S. federal and/or private education loans to help pay your tuition and living expenses. International students are eligible for private loans only, with a U.S. cosigner, and may be able to receive education loans from their own countries.

Middlebury Institute Scholarships

Both U.S. and international students are eligible for merit or need-based scholarships. To apply, submit your application for admission by the next priority deadline. You’ll upload a Personal Scholarship Statement as part of your online application.

Partner and Affiliation Scholarships

Alumni or members of our partner organizations and schools, including the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, City Year, Fulbright, JET and many more, may receive a guaranteed scholarship award as a part of their need-based and merit scholarship awards.

Spring 2017 Admission:

  • August 15: 1st round deadline
  • September 30: Final deadline for International Students
