I am passionate about translation (in the broad sense of the term), teaching, and language. Language is an indispensable vehicle for and a reflection of thinking. Few things, if any, reveal the human nature better than language, so there is a good reason to be passionate about it.

I am passionate about helping people communicate. I thoroughly enjoy bridging cultural and language gaps. As a translator and an interpreter, I have the opportunity to do just that in a variety of settings and situations.

Teaching at MIIS gives me a chance to pass my passion on to others. In my translation courses, I focus on conveying the practical skills my students will need as professional translators. Those include translation skills as well as the skills needed to work with clients and other translators.

English-Chinese translation and interpretation have been my passion ever since college years. Prior to returning to MIIS, I worked at McKinsey & Company, a global management consultancy, as an in-house translator and interpreter based in Shanghai. There I spent half my time translating business documents, and the other half interpreting for the firm’s foreign partners at various client meetings.
