Four Monterey Institute MBA students traveled to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January to compete in the final round of the international Business for a Better World competition, sponsored by Corporate Knights and the Schulich School of Business.

There is a lot of diversity on the MIIS campus. In this weeks' "The MIIS Experience in 60 Seconds," Lauren Thompson (MBA/TLM '14) shares her experiences of having classes with other students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
While pursuing her MBA focused on International Marketing and studying Japanese in the Translation and Localization Program, she had people from many different cultures sitting next to her in every class. One thing that stood out for her was the fact that when a teacher mentioned a pop culture reference, not everyone would understand it, because "they didn't grow up here." And when someone from another country would mention their own pop culture reference, the American students wouldn't necessarily understand.
Lauren says that having such diversity on campus "brings a whole new dimension to the classroom."

"The MIIS Experience in 60 Seconds" features a different student each week from a range of degree programs offered at the Monterey Institute of International Studies. In these short videos, the students elaborate on topics such as why they chose to come to MIIS, what has surprised them about the Monterey Institute, what kinds of cool things they've been involved in—both on and off campus, and more.
