International Education Management Program Continues Strong Growth With 40 New Students

August 27, 2013

“The rapid growth of the Institute’s MA in International Education Management program is a clear indicator of the need for talented educational leaders grounded in theory and trained in the best practices of the field,” says Professor Katherine Punteney, chair of the International Education Management program. Forty new students are following in the footsteps of the 24 who enrolled last fall, with eight selecting the joint International Education Management / Public Administration degree.

Punteney is looking forward to another great year and is especially happy to see so many people seeking advanced training in a field she is very passionate about: “As we see record numbers of students studying outside of their home countries each year, the need for skillful educators who are working to facilitate the international exchange of both ideas and people becomes increasingly essential.”

The three-semester program includes an academic year at the Monterey Institute campus followed by a four-to-six-month professional practicum in the U.S. or abroad. Students work with study abroad programs, colleges and universities, youth exchange programs, language programs and government agencies around the world. Through a partnership with Middlebury Schools Abroad, students in this program can assist in running study abroad programs in Russia, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, France, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, China, Japan, Chile, Mexico and Israel.
