"To be surrounded by such an intelligent, intellectual and accomplished group of people not only gives me endless topics for conversations but it's also motivational."
Zuleyma was initially attracted to the Monterey Institute because of the diversity of the student body-- culturally, linguistically and professionally. She says, "To be surrounded by such an intelligent, intellectual and accomplished group of people not only gives me endless topics for conversations but it's also motivational."
Over the summer of 2012 Zuleyma interned at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iraq. During her internship, Zuleyma was able to experience the UN's quality assurance practices first hand.
In addition to interning at UNDP, Zuleyma was working as a Frontier Market Scout, assessing the social enterprise scene in Jordan and the feasibility for a Village Capital cohort in the near future. Zuleyma says, "I have met with entrepreneurial support organizations here in Jordan as well as with amazing and innovative entrepreneurs."
Zuleyma has enjoyed the flexibility of the International Policy Studies program and the ability to customize her studies.
"The International Policy Studies program at the Monterey Institute has given me the freedom to truly mold my degree to my career goals. It's been great to be able to integrate business classes with development classes and thus experience first hand the reach of business solutions for economic development."
