CEAS AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS IN NORTHEAST ASIAN STUDIES The Center awards the following students Freeman Scholarships in Northeast Asian Studies for Spring 2008. The tuition scholarships are made possible by a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation and allow the following awardees to continue their study of Northeast Asia at the Monterey Institute of International Studies:

CEAS SUPPORTS SUMMER INTERNSHIPS IN NORTHEAST ASIA IN 2007 The Center will support the following students to undertake internships in Northeast Asia in the summer of 2007. The internships are made possible by a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation and enable the selected students to conduct their own research and also participate in ongoing projects of the hosting organizations.

JAPAN FOUNDATION AWARDS CEAS A GRANT TO PROMOTE JAPANESE STUDIES AT MIIS The Japan Foundation, Tokyo has awarded a $26,000 grant to CEAS to support its activities in Japanese Studies. The funding will be used to host a seminar and guest speakers on Japan and her relations with her neighboring countries, and to support a research project on Russians in contemporary Japan in Fall 2007 and Spring 2008.
FREEMAN FOUNDATION AWARDS CEAS A MAJOR GRANT FOR NORTHEAST ASIAN STUDIES The Freeman Foundation of New York has awarded a $675,444 three-year grant to CEAS to support scholarships and summer internships for Monterey Institute students pursuing Northeast Asian Studies and visiting fellows from Northeast Asian countries to conduct research and give seminars at the Monterey Institute. The grant is for 2005-08. |
