My Institute Experience
Picture of Adriana Zuniga-Hernandez
I’m an interpretation fanatic and I fall in love with this profession every time I do it. Once you’re in the interpreting situation, even if you were not given enough time to prepare for the topic, even though you feel your heart pounding, you get "into the zone" and everything works out fine. Interpreting is stimulating. It’s exciting and interesting. Some people don’t like the pressure and the adrenaline rush, but I do. Ever since my first introductory classes, when I am about to start, I’ve felt in a “C’mon, bring it on!” mood. After each interpretation, it feels great to say, “Yes! I did it!

Lawful Permanent Residence

Lawful permanent residency allows you to live and work in the U.S. indefinitely. Typically LPR at the Institute is gained through one of three different levels of employment-based preferences: EB-1/Aliens of extraordinary ability, EB-2/Members of professions holding advanced degrees, and EB-3/Professionals and skilled workers. The Immigration and Nationality Act has limited the total number of employment-based immigrants to 140,000 per fiscal year.

You can find more information on permanent residency at the following websites:

www.uscis.gov

www.travel.state.gov

Monterey Institute might be able to provide sponsorship for faculty or researchers, but we do not file LPR petitions. We can however, provide a list of immigration attorneys who could help you through the process.
