Panelists:

Anna Merlan is a journalist and author of the 2019 book Republic of Lies: American Conspiracy Theorists and Their Surprising Rise to Power. 

Mack Lamoureux is an investigative reporter whose work focuses on extremism, conspiracies, the absurd, and the far-too-often coalescing of the three. He spent eight years at VICE as a senior reporter and is the journalism fellow at the Accelerationist Research Consortium.

Tess Owen is an award-winning freelance journalist covering extremist movements and disinformation. 

Moderator:

J.M. Berger is a Senior Research Fellow at CTEC and an internationally recognized expert on extremism, including theory, ideology and propaganda. Berger is the author of three non-fiction books: Extremism (MIT Press Essential Knowledge Series, 2018), ISIS: The State of Terror (with Dr. Jessica Stern, 2015), and Jihad Joe: Americans Who Go to War in the Name of Islam (2011). Berger is also a research fellow with the VOX-Pol Network of Excellence and a PhD Candidate at the Swansea University School of Law.
