President's Message | Provost's Message
I've always felt that the profile of the Monterey Institute student is that of a risk-taker, someone who's going to develop international skills, then go out in the world and do something with them— and we need more people like that. The Institute is a gem in our community. I support the Monterey Institute because I believe it is very important to the future of the world...William E. HaywardPresident, CEO, and Chief Sustainability Officer Hayward corporation, Monterey, CA Former member, Board of Trustees and Member, Board of International Advisors.
"The graduate students who come to the Monterey Institute — whether they're oriented toward business, international policy, language education, or translation and interpretation — are committed to careers that will have positive impacts across boundaries, languages, and cultures.
"Approximately one-third of our students are international, representing citizens from over 70 countries, and over 95 percent of our U.S.-born students have international experience. At the Institute, they're empowered by a rich diversity of learning opportunities — through interaction with fellow students and with faculty, nearly half of whom come from outside the United States, and all of whom have significant international experience in their fields.
"Your gift to the Monterey Institute — whether it's to the Institute as a whole, to a specific school, or to an individual faculty or scholarship fund — will have real leverage and far-reaching effects. Your generosity supports the cycle of learning and positive impact created here."
