"Xīnnián hǎo!" or "Happy New Year!" was the common refrain as long-time friends of the Institute gathered at a Monterey restaurant to celebrate the Chinese New Year and to meet this year's Stilwell Scholarship recipients, Zhang Zhuoyi and Li Yanming.
The General Joseph W. Stilwell Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 by Nancy Stilwell Easterbrook and Alison Stilwell Cameron in honor of their father, General Joseph W. Stilwell who was the U.S. Army Commander of the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II.There have been 37 recipients of the Stilwell Scholarship since it was established over 30 years ago at the Institute. Stilwell Scholars have embarked as leaders in business, education, and government, contributing to a deeper understanding between the United States and China--the core mission of the Scholarship.
The Institute is grateful to those who have supported the Stilwell Scholarship over the years. May the new year bring abundant health, happiness, and prosperity! Learn more about the Stilwell Scholarship Fund.
