What do 18 experts on key global issues, 100 members of the Peninsula community, fine wines, and delectable truffles have to do with each other? Great Conversations! This inaugural annual event held on September 12 was a wonderful evening filled with robust discussions and discoveries. The Monterey Museum of Art proved the perfect backdrop to an evening focused on intellectual creativity as vibrant discussions took place on topics ranging from entrepreneurship in emerging economies, to how to use social network analysis to curb gang violence; from marine economics to human migration in Asia. We thank all of you who attended and made the evening such a success.
Great Conversations officially launched the academic year of engagement with the Institute. Since 1955, the Monterey Institute has been a part of the rich social fabric of the Monterey Bay community, and the eMIISsaries continue to connect the community members by offering an array of ways to explore the Institute through lectures, cultural events and academic enrichment opportunities. Great Conversations kicked off the academic year by showcasing some of the stars of the Institute’s faculty and their groundbreaking professional endeavors.
