Peter Jesse

Leadership Gift Officer

Peter is the Leadership Gifts Officer for the Monterey Institute and was named to that position in January 2013. He works with the President, senior leadership and faculty on expanding the Institute’s fund raising efforts nationwide and abroad by engaging prospective major donors in the life of the Institute.

Peter has broad experience in the development field, with 24 years of service. He was formerly with Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he served for three years as Director of International Development, traveling extensively throughout Asia. Prior to that, he worked for Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he served for 10 years as Associate Director of International Development for Major & Leadership Gifts, and where he also traveled extensively throughout Europe, logging nearly 100 trips abroad at both institutions. Before his time at Duke, he served for 11 years as Director of Annual Giving at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Peter holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master’s Degree from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has native fluency in German and has lived abroad for 17 years.

A daughter, Ellie, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who currently lives and works in marketing for a biotech startup in Dallas, Texas, and a son, Sam, is a 2007 graduate of Middlebury College, who lives in San Francisco and works as a product marketing manager for Google in Mountain View CA.
