Peter Jesse
Leadership Gift Officer
Peter is the Leadership Gifts Officer for the Monterey Institute and was named to that position in January 2013. He works with senior leadership and faculty on expanding the Institute’s fund raising efforts nationwide and abroad, and also works with individuals in the area of gift planning. In addition, Peter engages corporations and foundations to build and expand relationships with the Institute.
Peter was formerly with Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he served for three years as Director of International Development, traveling extensively throughout Asia. Prior to that, he worked for Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he served for 10 years as Associate Director of International Advancement for Major & Leadership Gifts, and where he also traveled extensively throughout Europe. Before his time at Duke, he served for 11 years as Director of Annual Giving at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Peter holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master’s Degree from Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He has native fluency in German and has lived abroad for 17 years.
A daughter, Ellie, is a senior at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and a son, Sam, a 2007 graduate of Middlebury College, works for a creative advertising agency in New York City.
