Private Alternative Loans

Private Alternative Loan Programs are a good option for students who plan to attend a Monterey Institute of International Studies' degree program.  Private Alternative Loans are also a good option for students who plan to attend non-degree program (such as the Summer Intensive Language Programs) and who do not plan to enroll in a degree program at the Monterey Institute.  Private Alternative Loans are available to international students if they know a credit-worthy  citizen or permanent resident who is willing to be a co-borrower.

You are encouraged to borrow only the amount necessary to cover that portion of your educational expenses that cannot be covered by other means.  You cannot borrow more than the cost of your educational expenses.  The Office of Student Financial Planning (OSFP) will work with you to determine the student budget amount for the proposed term of study.  The cost of education includes: tuition and fees, housing expenses, books and supplies, transportation costs and personal expenses.
