Ethical Governance in the 21st Century

Ethical Governance in the 21st Century aims to critically examine the current policy problems of today and address them with policy options that take into account the human cost of decision-making.

The Goal of the Conference is to challenge the existing approaches in governance and policymaking regarding the use of ethics, raising awareness of ethical concepts, and investigating the extent of its current implementation. 

This conference is organized by the Students for Ethical Governance and Policy Making Club at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey.

The fourth Monterey Forum, "Educating Translators, Interpreters and Localizers in an Evolving World," will take place March 28-29, 2015, at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California.

Technological advances and rapid shifts in economic, social and political conditions have changed the way translators, interpreters and localizers work, paving the way for new developments in TIL education.

Monterey Forum 2015 will focus on innovation in curriculum and syllabus design implemented in the physical or virtual classroom by educators around the world to address these new trends and challenges. The ultimate goal of the conference is to reflect on how advances in pedagogy and technology are shaping TIL education.

The Monterey Bay Foreign Language Education Symposium (FLEDS) is an annual community event that aims to celebrate and enrich foreign language education through the exchange of recent developments and innovations in the field. The Planning Committee consists of current graduate students in the following Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) programs: Teaching Foreign Languages (TFL), Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), and International Education Management (IEM).

Russia, Ukraine & Cyber Threats Expert Forum

The Monterey Cyber Security Initiative is pleased to invite the Institute faculty, staff, and students to an expert forum on the cyber components of the current Crimean crisis and global security risks to critical infrastructure. 

 

The regular attendance fee is waived for MIIS faculty, staff and students, who may register on the MIIS CySec website. Interested participants who are not part of the Institute should register on the "Suits and Spooks" website. A detailed agenda and additional information can be found here.
