Users must present a valid Monterey Institute I.D. card in order to check out materials. Authorization to use the library is a privilege extended to the general public at the discretion of the library staff. MIIS students, faculty and staff have priority over all other users in access to service and materials.
Print and non-print information resources are selected to support the curriculum of the Monterey Institute. Faculty and staff share primary responsibility for collection development. Collection suggestions from students and other library users are welcomed. You may make suggestions for additional information resources via the main library page link entitled Suggestions for New Acquisitions.
The library accepts gifts of materials only if they are determined to be of value to the collection. Gifts are retained or disposed of according to the discretion of the library staff.
Computers and printers are available for research and curriculum-related learning. The Monterey Institute reserves the right ot terminate or redirect Internet use in cases where it perceives that non-academic use is occurring. Students, faculty and staff of the Monterey Institute may use library computers for email.
Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited inside the library. Noise levels must be kept below patron disturbance level. Patrons are requested to refrain from placing feet on furniture or walls.
Laptop cords must be kept clear of all foot traffic areas for safety purposes. Portable phones may not be used inside the library. Soliciting for donations, or accosting patrons for petition signatures, or distribution of unauthorized literature is not allowed within the library. Improper behavior such as harassment is not permitted.
Skateboards, roller skates/blades are prohibited. Bicycles must be parked outside in designated areas. Theft of material may be subject to campus disciplinary measures, and may also be subject to prosecution by local authorities. Appropriate attire is required, including shirts and shoes.
Library staff reserve the right to search bags and backpacks when patrons leave the library. Please help by presenting your bag or backpack at the circulation desk when requested to do so |
