Self-Assessment
Self-assessment tools, one-on-one coaching, and workshops provide opportunities to clarify your career goals.
Self-assessment tools help you gain insight into your unique skills, interests, personality traits, and values. Your advisor will guide you through this process of self-reflection and discovery. Our students also engage in self-assessment through the Professional Development Essentials course.
The following assessments are currently available in our office:
Berkshire Career Inventory (BCI)
You will design 3 distinct career-tracks based upon your skills, interests, and talents and brainstorm compatible job titles and professions. The inventory is geared towards business students, although it may be beneficial to students from other fields.
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
This exercise charts your personality characteristics on four continuums: extroversion/introversion, intuition/sensing, thinking/feeling and perceiving/judging. By discussing the results with an advisor, you'll define your preferred work style and environment. You'll also explore careers that may complement and/or challenge your personality type.
Self-Directed Search (SDS) – Form CP
This inventory surveys your interests, competencies, and preferences according to Dr. John Holland’s theory of six vocational types. It connects these career types or themes to more than a thousand potential careers.
Values Exercises
Values influence your decisions, actions, and behaviors. This exercise will help you understand which values guide your career search and decision-making process.
