This section provides information about a variety of career positions available to MIIS graduates. The following job titles are sample of MBA job opportunities:

Marketing/Sales

Typical careers in sales and marketing design and develop sales/marketing strategies and tactics associated with driving industry awareness of a company and its products and services. Positions in sales/marketing analyze the current business environment, identify and procure new business opportunities and identify future market opportunities for new products, services and customers. Marketing/Sales professionals utilize strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.

Finance/Accounting

Finance and accounting professionals are responsible for the overall financial management of a company. One typical career path in Accounting is a certified public account (CPA). Professionals must take an exam to become a public accountant. Finance careers include positions in corporate finance, international finance, financial analysis, and encompass industries such as financial services, banking, venture capital and socially responsible investing.

Strategic Management

Strategic management professionals evaluate and control the business and the industries in which the company is involved; assess its competitors and set goals and strategies to meet all existing and potential competitors; and then reassess each strategy annually or quarterly to determine how it has been implemented and whether it has succeeded or needs replacement by a new strategy to meet changed circumstances, new technology, new competitors, a new economic environment, or a new social, financial, or political environment.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs are leaders that identify a market opportunity and exploit it by organizing their resources effectively to accomplish an outcome that changes existing interactions within a given sector. They are willing to accept a high level of personal, professional or financial risk to pursue opportunity. Strong management, leadership and team building skills are critical in this role.

Consulting

Consultants provide advice to firms who need access to a scope of expertise outside of their own company. Consulting is a broad profession and requires strong analytical and communication skills. Operations Management

Operations professionals control purchases, inventory control, quality control, storage, logistics and evaluations. A great deal of focus is on efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Therefore, operations management often includes substantial measurement and analysis of internal processes. Ultimately, the nature of how operations management is carried out in an organization depends very much on the nature of products or services in the organization, for example, retail, manufacturing, wholesale, etc.

Sustainable Business Development

Sustainable Business Development is enterprise that has no negative impact on the global or local environment, community, society, or economy—a business that strives to meet the triple bottom line. Often, sustainable businesses have progressive environmental and human rights policies. A sustainable business professional ensures that their organization pursues business activities the minimize their negative impact on their local or global environments, community, society or economy. Sustainable businesses focus on triply bottom line. Sustainable businesses typically display progressive environmental and human rights policies. Sustainable Business experts assess how to design products and deliver services that will take advantage of the current environmental situation and how well a company’s products perform with renewable resources.
