Wash DC Spring Break Trip & Career Fair

Last year, over 40 students and recent alumni took part in 31 different events in the Washington, DC area. Connections were made, business cards were exchanged, and all participants learned a bit more about living and working in the US capital.

Spend your Spring Break in DC!

We welcome students and recent alumni to take part in our DC Spring Break Trip in 2015. We'll be arranging informational sessions and organization tours with employers from Monday through Friday, and an alumni networking event on Thursday evening. This year, we're also holding a Policy and Management Career Fair on Friday, March 20th at the Middlebury in DC office. Check out the developing calendar of events here

As one of last year's participants, Katherine Campbell (IPS-HSD '15) states:

"Taking part in the DC Spring Break Trip was one of the best decisions I've made at MIIS.  I was impressed by the variety of agencies and organizations we visited, which helped me to gain a realistic sense of different professional settings and whether or not they would be a good fit for my interests and background.  Visiting the Congressional Research Service led me to pursue an opportunity to be a summer Research Associate, where I worked on issues of human and wildlife trafficking, and the narcotics trade.  Such a unique workplace and intellectually challenging internship demonstrates the potential for students who take part in the DC Trip to find personal fulfillment while gaining reputable professional experience."

Participants are also strongly encouraged to reach out to their own networks for meetings during this time. Your adviser can also assist you with making appropriate connections.

We have been able to secure limited housing at a dramatically reduced rate in the Adams Morgan area. All participants must coordinate their own transportation to and within DC. There is no program fee for this trip.

Note that students may apply for conference funding to help offset the costs for this trip.

Once you've registered for the trip, we will be in touch with you about logistics and will provide information as we go along about the calendar of events.
