Victor P. Micati


Vic Micati is a global pharmaceutical executive who retired from Pfizer, Inc. in 1999 after a career which spanned 34 years. He is currently a consultant to the health care industry and active on several boards.

Vic began his career at Pfizer in 1965, holding a variety of marketing and product development responsibilities until his appointment as Vice President of Marketing for Pfizer Laboratories in 1971. He chose to shift his career interests to the International division of Pfizer's global operations in 1972, becoming the Vice President of Pharmaceutical Development with the charge to establish a marketing capability for Pfizer's extensive International operations.

In 1980, Vic moved to the Brussels-based European headquarters as Executive Vice President, with operational responsibility for approximately 50% of Pfizer's European businesses. He was appointed to the International Board of Directors in 1984 and became President of Pfizer's European operations in 1990.

With the globalization of Pfizer's pharmaceutical business in 1996, Vic was appointed to the 10 member Corporate Management Committee, the senior management group responsible for all aspects of Pfizer's global operations, and in 1997, while continuing to manage European pharmaceutical businesses, assumed responsibility for the global Consumer Health Care group.

Upon retirement, Vic, with Pfizer sponsorship, represented U.S. pharmaceutical industry interests in Europe, chairing several committees with participants from the European Commission, the European Parliament, member countries, and the Industry with a focus on rationalizing health care delivery within Europe.

Vic was a member of the Board of Directors of ILEX Oncology, Inc. until its sale to GENZYME, Inc. and a currently a member of the Board of Directors of ENZON Pharmaceuticals. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Monterey Institute.

Vic holds a B.A. degree from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University. Vic, and his wife Elise, reside in Cordillera, Colorado where they are active in community activities. Vic is President of The Club at Cordillera and Elise is an elected official in local government.
