WILLIAM HENRY KIEFFER, III


Bill Kieffer was an executive with State Street Corporation, Boston, for 29 years, retiring in August 2002. His responsibilities over the years included divisions which provided lending to multinational corporations, global cash management and investment management services, focused on the development and monitoring of investing strategies for endowments, foundations and corporate pension plans.

Bill is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California. Bill presently serves as a Charter Trustee of Middlebury College, where he has chaired or is chairing several committees of the board, including Educational Affairs, Audit and the Committee on Trustees and Governance, as well as serving on the Prudential Committee. He as also served as Vice Chair of the Board, Co Chair of the College's Bicentennial Celebration, a member of two Presidential Search committees and as President of the Alumni Association. He is a Charter Trustee of Gould Academy, Chair of its Finance Committee, a member of its Executive Committee and past Secretary and Treasurer of its Board. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Maine Community Foundation and Chair of its Philanthropic Services Committee, a member of the Oxford County Advisory Fund and of the Equity Fund. Bill is a member of the Vestry of Trinity Church Boston and past co-Chair of the Spirit of State Street Alumni Volunteer Program.

He is a graduate of Middlebury College and completed graduate level courses at Yale, NYU and Babson. Bill also served as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy, with service in Vietnam.

Bill and his partner, Jim May, reside in Boston, MA., Bethel, ME. and Palm Springs, CA.
