Joined the First National Bank of Boston in 1970. Banking clients included technology, middle market, and multinational firms in New England as well as on the West Coast. From 1981 to 1985, served as Commercial Banking Head for the bank in London, covering indigenous European as well as multinational U.S. companies.
From 1985 - 2002, headed the private equity and venture capital group at Bank of Boston, with offices in Boston, Palo Alto, Europe, Asia and Latin America. This diverse portfolio aggregated to over $4 billion and was supplemented with over 150 Investment Fund commitments. High profile direct investments included Internet Capital Group, New England Patriots, Jet Blue, Bumble Bee Tuna and several successful cable, radio and communication companies. In 1997 a $700 million Fund of Funds for high net worth clients and institutions was also formed. In May, 2003, retired from Bank of Boston/Fleet after 33 years.
