In July, 1999 David J. Benjamin founded Triad Broadcasting Company, based in Monterey, California, and he serves as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Triad currently operates 40 middle-market radio stations in ten states.
In 1997 Mr. Benjamin sold Community Pacific Broadcasting Company L.P., which he co-founded in 1974 to Capstar Broadcasting Partners, where he also served as a Managing Director. Before merging with Clear Channel Communications, Capstar was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Prior to 1974 he served as a Broadcasting Consultant in New York and was Assistant to the Publisher of Fortune Magazine.
He is a former President of the Oregon Association of Broadcasters and served as a board member of the National Association of Broadcasters, as well as the California Broadcasters Association. He is a member of the board of directors of the Radio Advertising Bureau in New York City. In addition, Mr. Benjamin is former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and is a former President of the Community Foundation for Monterey County. He is a former member of the President’s Council at California State University, Monterey Bay. He currently serves as a Trustee of the Stevenson School in Pebble Beach, California, the Leon and Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy in Seaside, California, and the Monterey Institute of International Studies, an affiliate of Middlebury College.
He holds an MBA (1971) from Harvard Business School and a BA (1969) from Yale University.
He and his wife, Laurie, both natives of Kansas City, Missouri, reside in Carmel Valley, California, and they have two children, Elizabeth and David. |
