Frequently Asked Questions and Next Steps

What should you do next?

Submit your deposit following the instructions provided to you in your admission letter.

Request on- and off-campus connections with advisors, faculty, and students.
You will be invited to join MIcommunity, an online space to meet and connect with other incoming students, faculty from your program, your career and academic advisor, alumni, and current students. It is also a centralized resource hub for admitted students and includes step-by-step guidance through many topics and frequently asked questions.

MIcommunity opens in late January for those admitted for fall and September for spring admits. You can request these same connections and resources from your Enrollment Advisor if you are admitted before MIcommunity opens.

Experience your new community firsthand: meet your peers, current students, alumni, staff, and faculty.

When will I receive my full financial aid package?

If you are being offered a scholarship, that information was included with your letter of admission.

Federal financial aid (open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents) is handled by Student Financial Services. Please make sure you’ve completed all necessary steps to be considered for federal financial aid. Spring financial aid packages generally start being sent in September; fall financial aid packages generally start being sent in February, after fall tuition in finalized.

If you have questions about loans or work-study, you can contact finaid@miis.edu.
If you have questions about scholarships or your deposit deadline, please contact admissions@miis.edu.

If you have trouble submitting your deposit, please contact the cashier at 831-647-6434 or cashier@miis.edu.

How much will my program cost?

You can review the 2017–2018 tuition information at go.miis.edu/tuition. If you have questions about which tuition amount you will pay based on your program of admission or start date, please contact Student Financial Services at finaid@miis.edu.

If you have questions about the financial investment of your program, please explore how our Center for Advising and Career Services will support you in achieving your career goals and make sure you join MIcommunity to make additional connections. Faculty, alumni, and current students are great resources as you think about the importance of this investment in your future.

When will I receive information about housing?

Once students deposit, they are eligible to receive access to the private housing website open only to Middlebury Institute students. Access codes will be regularly distributed to confirmed students beginning in March for fall admits and in October for spring admits. For now, we recommend exploring the MIIS Housing Guide and the Start Your Housing Search module in MIcommunity.

As you prepare to relocate to Monterey, our Office of Student Services will have a lot of information for you about housing, life in Monterey, and student life. If you have unique questions that aren’t answered on the general website, feel free to contact Student Services directly at student.services@miis.edu.
