Beta Gamma Sigma Scholarship

We are proud to announce a unique scholarship for members of Beta Gamma Sigma. We will offer qualified members a guaranteed $12,000-$16,000 annual scholarship toward our one year Advanced Entry MBA degree.

Beta Gamma Sigma members can receive a scholarship for the advanced entry MBA degree.


Monterey Institute has been associated with Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society since 2002. The Monterey Institute chapter of BGS selects the top 15 percent of the MBA class, based on cumulative GPA, to be inducted into BGS each academic year.   

The Monterey Institute of International Studies offers a scholarship to Beta Gamma Sigma members from any state or country who qualify for the One-Year Advanced Entry MBA Program, as detailed below.


Beta Gamma Sigma members qualify for the scholarship if they meet certain eligibility criteria as determined by the admissions and scholarship committees.

Prerequisite Coursework

Advanced Entry MBA students must have previous business study that satisfies the following prerequisite subjects and 30 semester hours of credit with grades of B or above:

  • Organizational Theory (3 credits)
  • Financial Accounting (3 credits)
  • Managerial Accounting (3 credits)
  • Finance (3 credits)
  • Quantitative Methods (6 credits)
  • Economics - Micro and Macro preferred (6 credits)
  • Marketing (3 credits)
  • Operations Management (3 credits)

Language Proficiency

Native English Speakers

Applicants must complete 8 credits of advanced foreign language at the 300 or 400 levels, depending on the language of study. Students pursuing French, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, and English must enter at the 400 level, and students pursuing Arabic and Spanish must enter at the 300 level.

Non-native English Speakers

Non-native English speakers must provide scores from either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examinations.  If a student feels that they are eligible for a TOEFL or IELTS waiver, they may contact Admissions for an application to waive this requirement.

Application Process

Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) members will identify themselves by writing a short (one paragraph) statement explaining their affiliation with BGS within the statement of purpose required for the application.
