If I have no professional experience, should I still apply for a graduate degree?
Because graduates of the Institute strive to be practitioners in their area of expertise, many find that prior professional experience is helpful when making the decision to apply to graduate school. Such experience helps many of our students clarify and articulate their future professional goals.
The Admissions Committee looks favorably upon those candidates who can demonstrate some work experience, considering a broad range of professional experiences including internships, volunteer work, military service, Peace Corps service, full-time positions, and more. However, there are no formal experience requirements to apply to the Institute.
