"Our collective experiences of travel, language learning and teaching and research make for a truly inspiring cohort of linguists!"
After Caroline’s initial visit to the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS), she was in awe of the beautiful scenery and nature Monterey has to offer. She says, “I could really see myself living in such a magical place. Academically, MIIS had exactly what I was looking for – a strong MATESOL program with top-notch faculty and a strong Peace Corps presence consisting of Peace Corps Master's International students and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs)."
Caroline shares about her experience so far at MIIS, “The support and attention I’ve received from the faculty and student coordinator have been incredible. Also, I’ve felt that my professors always encouraged me to tailor my studies to suit my future Peace Corps service. In short, I feel very prepared as I am about to embark on twenty-seven months of Peace Corps service in Colombia.”
Caroline goes on to say, “I’ve enjoyed working with my professors and peers. Our collective experiences of travel, language learning and teaching and research make for a truly inspiring cohort of linguists! I have learned so much from each and every one of them – it’s truly an honor and privilege to be able to call them my colleagues.”
Caroline is excited to work with people from around the world and help them learn to communicate in an ever changing, multilingual world. She says, “Language has opened doors for me that have lead me towards incredible adventures – I only hope that I can help make that happen for my own students.”
