All applicants to the Fisher School must submit official GMAT scores.

Language Requirement for Native Speakers of English
Minimum Language Requirements
Two years of recent successful college-level language or the equivalent (except for Arabic)
Arabic: 1 year for fall entry (1 ½ years for spring entry) of recent successful college-level language courses or the equivalent
Evaluating your Language Skills
To help evaluate language skills (other than English), students may download a Diagnostic Language Test .The test is self-administered and will help you evaluate your level of language proficiency in reading and writing your chosen language. Please note that admitted students will be required to demonstrate advanced reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension skills in their language of study during New Student Orientation. Since only advanced language courses (3rd and 4th year college level) are offered during the academic year, students who do not have the minimum level of proficiency are strongly encouraged to consider beginning their studies by enrolling in an Intenstive Language Program at the Monterey Institute or at Middlebury College in order to bring their language skills up to the appropriate level.
Language Requirement for Non-native Speakers of English
It is presumed that non-native speakers of English will study English as their second language. Non-native speakers of English are required to provide proof of English proficiency by submitting scores from either the TOEFL or IELTS examinations.
- TOEFL minimums:
- Paper-based test (PBT): 550 minimum, Test of Written English: 4.0
- Computer-based test (CBT): 213 minimum, Test of Written English: 4.0
- Internet-based test (iBT): 80, Test of Written English: 23, no other subscores below 19
- IELTS minimums: 6.5 overall score with no sub-score below 6.0 on the Academic module
Applicants who wish to study a language other than English must submit a higher TOEFL or IELTS score report and submit an official college/university transcript showing two years of recent successful language training in their proposed language of study.
TOEFL minimums: 620 (paper) 260 (computer) 105 (internet)
IELTS minimums: 7.5 overall score with no sub-score below 7.0 on the Academic module
Non-native speakers of English who obtain a bachelor’s degree at an accredited US college/university may have the TOEFL or IELTS exams requirement waived for admission; however, they will still be required to take the English Language Proficiency Exam during New Student Orientation. Waiver requests should be made to the Admissions Office.

Applicants must have significant work experience and have completed the following prerequisite courses with a grade of B or better: Accounting (6 credits), Economics (6), Finance (3), Marketing (3), Operations Management (3), Organizational Theory (3), and Quantitative Methods* (6).

These programs are designed for native speakers of English with limited second language background. All admission requirements must be met for either the Two-Year or Advanced Entry MBA program, except for language. Applicants should contact the Enrollment Manager for FGSIB by e-mail at fgsib@miis.edu or call 831-647-6586 to discuss their language background and determine the best plan for meeting the language requirement prior to submitting an application.
Summer enrollment in an Intensive Language Program or Middlebury College is typically required prior to enrollment.

This program is only available to US citizens in either the Two-Year or the Advanced Entry MBA program. Applicants must meet all the admissions requirements for their chosen program, including the language requirement. Students must apply to the Monterey Institute and the Peace Corps separately and concurrently. Applicants should visit www.peacecorps.gov to review application procedures. It is recommended that the applicants begin the Peace Corps application process several months in advance as it usually takes more time than the application process at the Monterey Institute.
