Monterey

Monterey: Come to the place where our program was originally launched. Once the capital of the California territory under Spain, Monterey is known as the "language capital of the world." Here you will convene on the Institute’s international campus to put your training into action, within walking distance of the wharf, beach, and historic downtown.

Rwanda: With a focus on health, gender, and education, you will build skills in project planning, facilitation, partnerships, and social marketing as a public health tool. Seven days of intensive classroom instruction will establish your base of knowledge. Then you will apply your learning over 2-3 days devoted to a “real-life” client project working with African professionals in developing innovative solutions for Partners in Health and the Rwandan Ministry of Health.

Washington DC: Located in the heart of DC close to development organizations, government offices, and famous landmarks, you can build your network while designing a project to solve a problem. Working in teams, you will expand your social capital skills and explore power dynamics. Past Training Locations and Programs

 

Egypt

Egypt: This course will be offered by American University in Cairo (AUC) to MIIS and AUC graduate students. It will be led by an AUC professor and include a hybrid of lectures and field work. Participants will learn about the social services sector and international development within the Egyptian context. Participants will complete a small client project for a Cairo-based nonprofit as part of this course. 

Washington DC

Washington DC: MIIS students will travel to Washington, D.C. to complete a client project with one of three leading international development and social change organizations. Students will learn valuable skills that complement the DPMI Certificate training.

 

Kenya: Working side-by-side with Kenyan professionals from leading NGOs, you will design innovative solutions that address local priorities. Through gaining skills in fostering participatory development, your training will focus on education to lead change, measure progress, craft attractive funding proposals, and use monitoring data to communicate results.
