Follow these steps to apply for our Certificate in International Development and Social Change:

Application Deadlines

Winter 2016

For Monterey and Rwanda:

  • Early Review Deadline: September 1, 2015
  • General Application Deadline: October 31, 2015

Summer 2016

For Monterey, Washington, D.C. and Kenya:

  • Early Review Deadline: March 1, 2016
  • General Application Deadline: April 1, 2016

How to Apply

  • Submit your online application, which includes:
    • Applicant information and biography
    • Program date preferences
    • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae (non-MIIS applicants only)
  • No application fee is required.

International Participants

  • International participants may need a visa to attend the program. Email us regarding student visa requests.
  • Applicants must be proficient in English. Please contact Carolyn Meyer at cmeyer@miis.edu if you are a non-native English speaker and have questions about your English proficiency.

We'll make admissions decisions within two weeks of receiving the application.

Program Deposits

A non-refundable deposit is due two weeks after acceptance:

  • $500 for visiting participants
  • $100 for Middlebury Institute or Middlebury College students
  • No deposit required for Davis UWC Scholars applying to Washington, DC

Program Fees

Final program fees for Winter 2016 are due on December 21, 2015. These fees include your deposit:

  • $2,500 for visiting participants
  • $500 for students enrolled at the Middlebury Institute or Middlebury College
  • Davis UWC scholars are fully funded for the Washington, DC session

The Rwanda and Kenya program fees include shared lodging and most meals:

  • $2,500 for visiting participants
  • $1,500 for students enrolled at the Middlebury Institute or Middlebury College
  • $1,200 for an optional 1-week cultural immersion program prior to the Rwanda and Kenya trainings
