Frontier Market Scouts Program offers two 2-week training programs per year (January and June). The program also recently added a 1-week summer training followed by a two month field program from July-August.

Application Information

The Frontier Market Scouts Program selects and trains compassionate and capable young professionals to become talent scouts and investment managers serving local entrepreneurs and social-minded investors in low-income and weak-capital regions of the world. The scouts provide due diligence for investors and technical assistance for entrepreneurs with the goal of generating high-quality deal flows and supporting portfolio companies at a low cost.

The program consists of a 2-week training or 1-week training program in Monterey, California followed by a 6-month or 2-month (summer only) field program at sites around the world.  To apply, please click here.

Applicant Eligibility

Those with a strong interest in enterprise development and impact investment at the Base of the Pyramid, a solid business or management background, and an excellent aptitude for cross-cultural immersive professional learning are eligible to apply for the FMS Program. Monterey Institute students in any degree program may apply. Outside participants who are advanced undergraduates, graduate students, career-changers, or junior professionals are also welcome.

Housing

There is no on-campus housing available on Monterey Institute campus in Monterey. However, the Monterey Institute Student Services Office can assist participants with Monterey housing resources.
