Visa Documentation Support

Our International Student Advisors consult with international students to determine visa-specific needs and necessary documentation to join the two-week training.

The visa that an individual participant uses to enter the U.S. in order to complete an FMS certificate training session will depend on multiple factors.

  • For an individual who is engaged in FMS as a professional development (“professional education”) experience, then the B1/2 Visitor Visa (or Visa Waiver Program—WB [business]/WT [tourist]) status may be appropriate.
  • For individuals enrolling in FMS as students from outside the U.S. or receiving funding from MIIS, the F-1 visa status may be appropriate.
  • For an individual who will pursue FMS before or after a course of study at MIIS or another school, or to count towards a degree, then the F-1 visa status (or a status that allows for study) may be required.

Important: Comprehensive visa support is available for the certificate training portion only. Fellowship visa logistics are managed between our candidates and their corresponding hiring partners on a case-by-case basis.
