Academic Credit
The FMS training program is available for 6 academic credits (letter grade). The FMS field program is available for 6 credits (letter grade).
It is the participant's responsibility to verify whether the credit receiving institution accepts these graduate course credits from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Matriculating full-time Monterey Institute students can audit up to 4 academic credits per semester with approval of the instructor. Completion of the 6-unit training course (for credit, as a partial audit, or as a professional artificer) is a pre-requisite for participation in the field program.
Participants seeking academic credits (and who are not enrolled full-time at the Monterey Institute when registering for FMS classes) will pay the standard tuition at $1,615 per unit, or $9,690 for the 6-unit training program (FY 12/13). The aforementioned scenario also includes current Monterey Institute students who are not enrolled fulltime during the summer, fall, or spring semesters.
Students enrolled in a fulltime semester credit load (12 units or more) at the Monterey Institute will be charged the comprehensive semester fee. Merit scholarships normally apply. Monterey Institute students should contact a financial aid advisor to review their specific situation.
*The FMS program fee is waived for Monterey Institute students enrolled in FMS academic courses through summer 2013. Starting in January 2014, the program fee will apply to MIIS participants seeking academic credit as well as those seeking only the professional certificate).
