Harmony at Home

2nd Chance Youth

Rancho Cielo

The Mission statement for Harmony At Home is to end the cycles of violence and abuse by empowering children and young adults with knowledge, skills and confidence to lead healthy and productive lives. Harmony At Home's role is to provide programs, oversight, and management of the programs they provide. Their goal is to ensure the programs' long-term sustainability while maintaining quality control and continuity of services.

The children and youth that Harmony At Home serves, often suffer from low self-esteem, depression and, in some cases, suicide ideation due to family and community violence and other severe trauma. Harmony At Home primarily serves children and families of Hispanic origin, who are in the low to poverty income range. All of the clients have been, or are, touched by violence in their homes and/or communities. Many of the children and youth that Harmony At Home works with have lost a relative or friend due to gang related violence. Harmony At Home is helping these children learn that there is an alternative to violence. They have choices and they are not destined to repeat the patterns they have witnessed and experienced.

Second Chance is a community based agency that provides gang prevention/intervention services. They conduct outreach on the streets and counseling in the homes of all potential clients. The 2nd Chance staff are bilingual, bicultural professionals specifically trained in adolescent development and the latest anti-gang intervention techniques, including grief counseling, and alcohol/substance abuse. Second Chance offers youth an opportunity for a new life without judging, accusing, or pointing fingers. The organization is a voice for those who have none. The organization provides the harbor that young people often need to find positive outlets in life other than gangs and drugs.

The goal of Rancho Cielo is to partner with the community to provide a safe campus to deliver programs and services that inspire at risk youth to learn new skills, gain self-esteem and confidence. Rancho Cielo seeks to transform the lives of at-risk youth and empower them to become accountable, competent, productive and responsible citizens. Bringing together public agencies, community based organizations and concerned citizens they aim to design and implement a comprehensive set of services and programs. These services and programs provide the support and alternative activities needed to stem the rising rate of juvenile crime in Monterey County and the surrounding area. They provide educational opportunities to students who could not achieve their academic goals in a traditional school setting. They provide support services, vocational training and job placement services.
