The annual Fall Forum is both organized and interpreted by students in the MA in Interpretation program.

Fall Forum 2015: Conservation

Fall Forum is MIIS's annual interpreting event, it is a wonderful opportunity to get a feel for what interpretation means as you watch interpreters in action. This year, aspiring interpreters from the Chinese, French, Russian, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish T&I/CI programs will perform live consecutive interpretation. This year the forum will focus on controversial topics regarding conservation.

The Fall Forum provides the MIIS community with a setting for discussing current issues. This exciting event offers our second-year interpretation students the unique opportunity to perform consecutive interpretation in a professional environment. Additionally, the event gives students in other academic programs a chance to see interpreters at work and consider how they might work effectively with an interpreter.

The theme of the Fall Forum is chosen with the hopes of facilitating a cross-cultural and cross-language discussion on topics of interest within the MIIS community. Speakers are invited from other graduate programs at MIIS and from the local Monterey area to speak in a non-English language and offer their opinions and experience on the chosen topic.
