Fall Forum 2014: Water

Fall Form Poster

The Fall Forum, MIIS’s annual interpreting event, is the best occasion to get a feel for what interpretation means as you watch interpreters in action. This year, aspiring interpreters studying in MIIS’ Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish programs will demonstrate consecutive interpretation in the forum, which will focus on water.

The Fall Forum provides the MIIS community with a setting for discussing relevant issues of our time. This exciting event offers our second-year interpretation students the unique opportunity to perform consecutive interpretation in a professional environment; it also gives students in other academic programs the chance to see interpreters at work and to consider how they might work effectively with an interpreter. feel for what interpretation means as you watch interpreters in action. This year, aspiring interpreters studying in MIIS’ Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Spanish programs will demonstrate consecutive interpretation in the forum, which will focus on water.

The theme for the Forum is chosen with the hopes of facilitating a cross-cultural and cross-language discussion on topics of interest among the MIIS community. Speakers are invited from other graduate programs at MIIS and from the local Monterey area to speak in a non-English language and offer their opinions and experience on the chosen theme.
