The annual Fall Forum is both organized and interpreted by our Interpretation students.
The Fall Forum provides the MIIS community with a setting for discussion of relevant issues of our time. This exciting event offers our second-year interpretation students the unique opportunity to perform consecutive interpretation in a professional environment; it also gives students in other academic programs the chance to see interpreters at work and to consider how they might work effectively with an interpreter. The theme for the Forum is chosen with the hopes of facilitating a cross-cultural and cross-language discussion on topics of interest among the MIIS community. Speakers are invited from other graduate programs at MIIS and from the local Monterey area to speak in a non-English language and offer their opinions and experience on the chosen theme.
Past Forum Topics have included:
Food - You Are What You Eat (2013)
Sports - Game On! A Discussion about Sports (2012)
Sex Education - What Do You Know About Sex Education? (2010)
