CALL 8500 - LearningTechnology 4 TESOL/TFL
Introduces a core set of learning technologies that are explored through hands-on tasks related to assignments that will be completed as a candidate in the M.A. TESOL / TFL program. Having experienced the integration of these tools into their own learning, teacher candidates are then better able to reflect on potential applications for their own (future) language learners. Designed to provide students at all levels of technical expertise with exposure to what is possible with technology integration, both in the short term for M.A. projects and assignments, as well as in language learning and teaching in general. Also designed to prepare those with less experience and/or confidence in working with technology to participate in further CALL core and elective courses.

Provides an introductory overview of all the major topics in CALL, including strategies for using the most common applications, making lesson plans for technology-enhanced classes, the uses of websites, and various forms of online communication. Briefly addresses issues relating ot curriculum design and integration, classroom and lab management and design, the pros and cons of distance education, and the creation of communities of learning.

CALL 8575 - Computer Assisted Assessment
Examines currently available computer-assisted language assessments and test construction software. Discusses ways in which computer technology can enhance the validity of assessments as well as the delivery and scoring of assessments. Students design a computer-assisted assessment measure.
