Essential Job Responsibilities in the International Student and Scholar services Field

International Student Admission Specialist

  • Corresponding with prospective students
  • Explaining the U.S. (or other) education system and the institutional application process
  • Receiving and organizing all of the students’ application materials
  • Collaborating with university departments
  • Advising students on the visa application process

International Student and Scholar Adviser

  • Facilitating orientation programs
  • Providing individual advising and making referrals on academic, personal, and cultural matters
  • Arranging extracurricular activities such as friendship programs, international student clubs, etc.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of complex immigration regulations
  • Assisting with the paperwork to apply for benefits such as employment permission
