Dual Degree Options
Earn two Master's degrees in three years.
Students at the Monterey Institute can earn a second Master's degree by taking a minimum of 30 semester credits (which includes the program's core requirements) in addition to their first Master's degree requirements. In order to pursue the dual degree option, all students must apply and be accepted into both programs of study. With careful planning, students can complete both Master's degrees within a three year time frame.
Dual Degree Opportunities
The dual degree option permits students to expand their skill set and resume by pursuing complementary curriculum. The combination of skills allows for more career opportunities, particularly with the emerging need for specialists that can bring cutting edge knowledge to traditional organizations and industries.
Students entering programs in international environmental policy, international policy studies, trade and development, or international security can complement the policy focus with international business competencies and business planning experience. Translation and localization management students focusing on software translation can expand their opportunities with concentrated business management expertise. Business students may wish to round out their program by pursing a focus on the environment, sustainable enterprises, or social purpose organizations.
The most popular dual degree programs include, but are not limited to, the following:
- MBA-MA in International Environmental Policy (IEP)
- MBA-MA in International Policy Studies (IPS)
- MBA-MA in Public Administration (MPA)
- MBA-MA in Translation & Localization Management (MATLM)
- MA in Translation (MAT) & MA in International Policy Studies (IPS)
