Why Our Joint BA/MA Program Is Right for You

Have you completed your first two years of college or university? Our Joint Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (BAIS) and Master of Arts (MA) degree program is designed for students who have completed the first two years of undergraduate coursework and would like to earn a bachelor's degree on the path to a master's degree.

Earn Your Master's Degree in Only Three Years

You'll have the opportunity to complete both your bachelor's and master's degree in only three years (or less!) At the end of the first year of study, you'll apply to one of the master's programs at the Monterey Institute: 

► Development Practice and Policy

• International Policy Studies

• Public Administration (MPA)

► International Business (MBA)

► International Education Management

► International Environmental Policy

► Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies

► Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

► Teaching Foreign Language (TFL)

► Translation, Translation and Interpretation, or Conference Interpretation

► Translation and Localization Management

You'll earn a bachelor's degree in International Studies and a master's degree from your program of choice

Joint BA/MA Curriculum

Overall credits required for the bachelor's program are 120, including up to 70 approved credits transferred from the first two years of university study. 30 additional credits are required for the master's program. Once you're admitted to the specific graduate program, after your first year of study at the Institute, you'll begin your graduate studies. Review the curriculum for more details.
