The Institute’s interlibrary loan service allows you to borrow books and articles from other libraries.

Interlibrary loan borrowing and document delivery services are limited to current students, faculty, and staff. Books generally take from five to 10 working days to arrive; articles from 24 hours to 10 working days.

Requests for loans are limited to materials that the library does not own. Loan periods are determined by the lending library. The Institute will not provide required course books for students through interlibrary loan. Borrowers will be notified by email when a requested item has arrived for pick up. Articles will be delivered via email in PDF format.

Make a Request

To request or renew a book or an article, or to check the status of a request, log in to your interlibrary loan account. A request is not closed until the returnable item has been delivered to the Middlebury Institute Library for return to the lending library.
