Our goal is to help you acquire the highest possible language proficiency in a short amount of time.

 How to Apply

We are still accepting applications on a case-by-case basis.

All applicants must submit the following materials:

  • Completed application (including diagnostic test score on application)
  • $50 application fee (non-refundable)

Upon acceptance into the program, a $200 tuition deposit (non-refundable) is required. Tuition is due in full by April 29, 2013. Any applications accepted after April 29 will require full tuition payment upon acceptance into the program.

Unless you are an absolute beginner, you are required to take the online diagnostic test before applying to the program. Your application will not be processed without a diagnostic score. 

 *Please note that classes are subject to cancellation due to low enrollment. Students will be notified of any such cancellations no later than one week after the application deadline date. In the case of cancellation, applicants will receive a full tution refund, including deposit and application fee. 

Age Guidelines

Our intensive program generally requires that students be at least 18 years of age. The Summer Intensive Language Program will occasionally admit students between the ages of 16 to 18. Participants under the age of 18 must provide proof that they are in custody of a legal guardian living in the local area. Under-age participants are also required to submit two letters of recommendation from teachers or advisors that attest to their fitness for intensive language study.

Please note that incoming graduate students of the Monterey Institute and Middlebury College students do not need to pay the application fee if they have already paid an application fee through another program. For these applicants, please complete the PDF version of the applicationPDF version of the application and submit it via email, fax (831-647-3534), in person or by regular post along with the program deposit.

Once you have completed and submitted the online application and paid the $50 application fee, you will receive an email with tuition and deposit payment information along with your acceptance letter. Your application will remain pending until we receive your $200 (non-refundable) tuition deposit. The balance of your tuition will be due in full by April 29, 2013.

After April 29, 2013, applications will continue to be accepted until courses are full. All applications must be submitted with a deposit and application fee. Balance of tuition is due upon formal acceptance into the program.

Deferral

Applicants to the Summer Intensive Language Program may defer application (with deposits) for up to one year. To defer to the following year’s summer program, please contact the Intensive and Custom Language Programs office at 831.647.4115 or email languages@miis.edu. Deferral is not automatic and MUST be requested by the student.
